South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has just made another move towards ramping up the development of applications for its Android-based tablet PC, the Samsung GALAXY Tab, and announced that it put in place a special GALAXY Tab developer forum.

The GALAXY Tab comes with a 7-inch touchscreen display, of a higher resolution that the screens on Android phones, but the development of applications for the tablet PC should not be different from building applications for other devices running under Google's mobile OS.

“Developing for Samsung GALAXY Tab is no different from developing for any other Android based device," the mobile phone maker announced.

"By utilizing only public APIs provided in the Android SDK and follow the guidelines and tips below, applications will not just work on the GALAXY Tab but also scale correctly.”

According to Samsung, the “GALAXY Tab provides a perfect form factor to optimize applications, by implementing UI and UX enhancements previously not possible.”

Moreover, developers who have difficulties in coming up with applications for the device should head over to Samsung mobile Innovator, where they would find a lot of tools and materials to get started.

“Before getting started with Samsung GALAXY Tab add-on installation, you may need to install the Android development environment,” the mobile phone maker announced.

Those who do not have the environment installed on their devices should find all the necessary tools available for download from here. More info on the matter is available on the Android Developers website.

As stated above, the Samsung GALAXY Tab sports a 7-inch touchscreen display, which boasts a 1024 x 600-pixel (WSVGA) resolution, while being powered by 1GHz application processor. The slate runs under the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system.

Developers interested in optimizing their applications for use on the tablet should have in mind a few other aspects, Samsung notes in a post on Samsung mobile Innovator.

Application builders should be able to find all they need to get started with developing for GALAXY Tab on Samsung's developer site here.
