Via Verizon Wireless

First said to come via Verizon Wireless at the beginning of 2008, Samsung Juke has been launched earlier by Verizon and is now available for the US market. Also known as Samsung U470, the handset is "helped" by a huge media campaign featuring Foreigner's song "Jukebox hero". It is a dual-band slider music mobile phone that looks a lot like an MP3 player. It's not Samsung's first design of this type, if we think about the F200 and X830 music phones.

The Juke is available in tree colors, blue, red and teal, to satisfy everyone's taste. Its built-in music player supports audio formats like MP3, WMA, WMA Pro, AAC and AAC+. It can store up to 2GB of music, meaning about 500 MP3 downloads and lets you create and manage playlists as well as sync music from your desktop PC. The phone supports voice mail, voice commands, speed dialing and provides a phone-book with 500 entries. It packs an integrated 2 megapixel VGA Digital Camera with Night Shot and Self Timer, brightness adjustment and shutter sound selection. Unfortunately, the phone has a kind of small 1.45 inches screen with a 128 x 220 pixel display. Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity are featured, as well as speakerphone, advanced speech recognition, 72?Note Polyphonic ringtones, Picture Messaging and Location Based Services like VZNavigator and Chaperone Child.

The phone is quite small and very thin, as most of the Samsung handests are. Its dimensions are: 3.82 x 1.18 x 0.83 inches. Its design and its features make it a great phone for teenagers and, somehow, a rival for the iPhone, but a much cheaper one.

Samsung U470 Juke is available through Verizon Wireless with a two-year contract. An on line discount enables customers to buy the phone for only $99.
