The Korean company is now a platinum member and has a seat on the Board of Directors

The Linux Foundation has announced that Samsung Electronics, has joined the organization as a Platinum member.

Samsung is a well-known electronics company that uses Linux-based products in a lot of its hardware. By joining The Linux Foundation, Samsung will help the Linux community with innovations and ideas that everyone will be able to benefit from. “The company’s commitment to Linux and investment in its development firmly plants it in a position to continue its achievements in the mobile, embedded and consumer electronics markets."

"This is a strategic business decision that will result in advancing Samsung Electronics’ success and accelerating Linux development work,” said Jim Zemlin, executive director at The Linux Foundation.

According to The Linux Foundation, the Platinum level is the highest level of membership. Samsung Electronics joins a group of companies that have exhibited tremendous leadership and support for Linux and, as a Platinum member, will have a seat on The Linux Foundation’s Board of Directors.
