Samsung SGH-J700 (or simply Samsung J700), one of the new mobile phones from the South Korean company's 2008 line-up, is now available in Romania, via HAT Group.

Although it's only a mid to low end device in terms of features, J700 looks very nice, offering what Samsung calls a "premium style". The phone is sleek and small and it has a reflective surface designed to attract users.

Samsung J700 comes in a slider form factor, it measures 99.5 x 48 x 14.8 millimeters (when closed), weighs only 92 grams and works on tri-band GSM networks (900, 1800 and 1900 MHz). The handset packs a simple and user-friendly numeric keypad, a 2 inch TFT display with 65K colors support and a 128 x 160 pixels resolution, GPRS, EDGE, Music player (MP3, AAC, AAC+ and MIDI), FM radio, Video player, WAP 2.0/xHTML and HTML browser, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP (for music, handsfree calls and even Bluetooth printing), USB 2.0 (for transferring files from and to your desktop PC), Java MIDP 2.0, organizer and currency converter.

Furthermore, Samsung J700 offers a 1.3 Megapixel camera with video recording (in MPEG-4 and H.263 formats), Mobile Tracking and SOS functions, and (only) a 10 MB internal memory, but that can be expanded with a microSD card. The phone's battery is an 800 mAh Li-Ion one that should provide a talk-time of up to 3 hours and a stand-by time of about 250 hours.

Samsung J700 was also launched in other countries across Europe, and there is even a pink version of it, but for the moment it is only available in the UK. In Romania, the good looking slider can be bought from HAT Group Romania at a retail price of 549 RON (about 147 Euro or $228).
