The Asian version of Samsung J630

Samsung has recently introduced a new mobile phone targeted for the Asian market, the Samsung Anycall J638. This is actually the Asian version of J630, a clamshell that was first unveiled back in February and seems to be already available on several markets from Europe and the Middle East.

Anyway, the new Samsung J638 is not too different from the J630, save for the fact that the J638 will be available in more colors: blue/gray, gold, purple and brown. Apparently, the J638 will first be released in Taiwan, with other Asian countries to follow afterwards.

Since it's similar to the J630, Samsung J638 also comes in a clamshell form factor and its metallic case only measures 101 x 50 x 12.9 millimeters (when closed), making it one of the slimmest flip phones out there.

The J630 works on tri-band GSM frequencies (900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) as well as on WCDMA and HSDPA, in order to offer users some 3.5G data transfer speeds, and packs a set of features that make it a mid-end device. These features include: a 2.2 inch TFT internal display with 260K colors and 240 x 320 pixels, an external 1 inch display, good for quickly viewing info like incoming calls or battery status, Music player (with support for MP3, AAC and AAC+), Video player, NetFront 3.4 browser (like all the latest Sony Ericsson handsets), email, a 2 Megapixel camera with video, Bluetooth 2.0, document viewer, USB 2.0, and 40MB of internal memory which can be expanded with a microSD card slot for up to 2 (or maybe 4) GB.

The retail price of Samsung J638 is not known, nor is its release date. Moreover, official photos of the new J638 cannot be found yet, but we did spot some live images, which we posted below:
