These days, hardware pieces of news are rather scarce, with practically all hardware developers, researchers and manufacturers saving their best releases for the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show. Besides a peek at an upcoming motherboard or the emergence of a certain lawsuit, nothing much can be seen sprouting up on the IT market, in addition to a few storage cards and a few leaks.

Adding to the short number of recent releases, Samsung introduced a consumer electronic exclusive to the Korean market, namely the new Digital Picture Frame, better distinguished from other products of this type by its more accurate denomination, namely SPF-800P. Although designed primarily as a picture frame, the SPF-800P does more than just put on a pretty face and display whatever photos it has stored on its 2GB of internal memory.

The Digital Picture Frame is an 8-inch device, which, despite its size, can display stored pictures in resolutions of 800 x 480. As if this wasn't enough, the SPF-800P also features a video viewer and an audio player. Sound capabilities may be enjoyed using compatible headphones, even Bluetooth-enabled headsets for the enjoyment of favorite audio files without bothering, or being bothered, by anyone else. The gadget also has a few extra I/O capabilities, including a microSD card reader, for additional storage or file transfer between the device and a PC, and, obviously, the Bluetooth connectivity.

Quite feature-rich, especially for those who are interested in a rather impressive surrogate for a portable media player, the Digital Picture Frame SPF-800P is also environmentally friendly, being designed entirely free of mercury and lead. The product is, as previously mentioned, exclusive to the Korean market and carries a price tag of 199,000 Won (the equivalent of $170 dollars). source, a 10-inch model will also become available soon.
