14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung has just announced the Galaxy Mega series of smartphones comprising some of the largest phones soon to be available on the market.
For the time being, Samsung has confirmed that the first two smartphones in the Galaxy Mega series will be launched in May in Europe and Russia.
According to the South Korean company, the phones’ availability and pricing options may vary by market and will be rolled out gradually.
Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 are the first Android smartphones in the new series and will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.
Rumors on these phablets emerged several weeks ago and we also reported yesterday that a Germany retailer had already opened up pre-orders for the Galaxy Mega 6.3.
Although Samsung did not reveal any details regarding the phones’ pricing options, the bigger of the two has been priced at €700/$915 outright. Check it out here.
Specs-wise, both smartphones come with dual-core processor, 8GB of internal memory, 1.5GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB).
They also sport 8-megapixel rear-facing cameras, as well as 1.9-megapixel front-facing photo snappers for video calls.
These cameras are packed with several interesting features, including “Drama Shot” (merging continuous shots of a moving object), “Sound & Shot” (captures 9 seconds of sound and voice together as the picture is taken to capture moments), “Rich tone,” “Sports” and more.
Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 and 6.3 are only the first smartphones in the newly launched series, which is likely to expand every year with new devices.
