It looks like the international version of Galaxy S III is missing

Samsung has already started delivering KitKat updates for lots of its Galaxy smartphones, but there are still some devices that have yet to receive the highly anticipated upgrade.

As a matter fact, some of the Galaxy smartphones have yet to be confirmed for a KitKat update. While the newest models have already been upgraded to Android 4.4.2, Samsung has yet to announce whether or not devices like Galaxy S III and Galaxy Grand will eventually receive the said update.

Well, it appears that we now have more info on what's to come for Samsung fans. An internal document which contains a list of the devices that are about to get a KitKat update in the next couple of weeks has just been leaked via SamMobile.

Even though the list contains the popular Galaxy S III, Samsung has mentioned in the document that the international version of this model will not be getting the update.

Only the LTE and US models seem to be on track for receiving an upgrade to KitKat, probably due to the fact that they are packed with 2GB of RAM, whereas the international version comes with only 1GB RAM.

According to SamMobile, the tipster who gave it the list of upgradable devices claims that Samsung is pressured by Google to release a KitKat update for the international Galaxy S III, which was not 18 months old at the time of Android 4.4 reveal last year.

Unfortunately, the fact that the Samsung has already decided to remove the international Galaxy S III from the list of devices getting KitKat suggests that the update has already been canceled.

In fact, this is confirmed in the document, right under the list of devices where Samsung mentions that “GT-I9300 update has been canceled due to unsolved problems.”

It appears that these problems derive from the inability of Samsung's engineers to make the company's TouchWiz apps load up in the system. The information has been confirmed via a screenshot provided by the same tipster.

For those who do not own the international Galaxy S III, here are the smartphones that will receive an Android 4.4 KitKat update in May/June: Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Note II LTE, Galaxy S III LTE, Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy S4 mini LTE, Galaxy Note 3 Neo, Galaxy Grand 2, Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3.

Keep in mind that Samsung is already testing Android 4.4.3 KitKat for Galaxy S5, so there might be a possibility that some of the devices in the list will jump directly to this version of the operating system. However, this could mean that the initial updates might be delayed by a few weeks. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
