Mobile phone carrier Sprint reportedly has plans to add a new handset to its offering in the near future, namely the Samsung Intercept (SPH-M910). Boasting a touchscreen display and a side sliding QWERTY keyboard, the upcoming device is expected to prove the perfect replacement for the Samsung Moment, which has been with the carrier for quite a while now.

The Samsung Intercept (SPH-M910) has been just spotted around the Internet in a series of leaked photos. According to the news on this device, Sprint would be set to make it available for purchase on its airwaves come July 11, though no official announcement on the matter has been made for the time being.

One way or the other, the upcoming Samsung Intercept should hit Sprint as a mid-range handset running under Google's Android operating system. One of the main feature of the new device should be the Android 2.1 operating system, which might be upgraded to Android 2.2, something that won't happen with the Samsung Moment, as Sprint announced not too long ago.

The specifications list of the upcoming Samsung Android-based device also includes a 3.2-inch touchscreen display of unknown resolution, along with a four-row QWERTY keyboard sliding from under the display, fast access to social networking sites, in addition to a nice range of connectivity options, such as Bluetooth 2.1 and 3G, as well as Wi-Fi, and GPS, though they are not confirmed yet. Since the new device would come to Sprint as an upgrade for the existing Moment, some of the phone's main specs should be upgraded, including its camera, or its Internet connectivity capabilities.

Unfortunately, there are a great deal of details on the new Smasung mobile phone that haven't been yet unveiled. Specific info on its pricing lacks too. However, in case Sprint and Samsung indeed plan on putting it on sale come July 11, it shouldn't be too long before specific details on this emerge. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
