Yesterday was a pretty hot day at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, with all major wireless carriers in the United States and their partner mobile phone makers announcing new devices for their customers. One of these would be the Samsung Infuse 4G, which is set to make an official appearance on AT&T's airwaves in the near future. According to the mobile phone carrier, the new device should become the thinnest Android device in its offering when released, as it would measure only 4.5 inches.

The specifications list of this device is pretty impressive, that's for sure, starting with the next-generation Super-AMOLED Plus touchscreen display, and moving to the enhanced connectivity options it packs inside.

The new Super AMOLED Plus technology from Samsung featured on the 4.5 inches display of Infuse 4G sports “50 percent more sub-pixels for better contrast and outdoor readability,” the mobile phone maker announced.

The mobile phone comes with a 1.2 GHz applications processor and is powered by Google's Android 2.2 operating system.

It includes a 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera, complemented by an 8-megapixel rear-facing photo snapper with LED flash and HD video recording capabilities.

Unfortunately, AT&T and Samsung did not offer too many details on the upcoming mobile phone, nor on the exact date when it might arrive on shelves, or the price tag it would feature.

However, they did say that the new phone would land sometime in the second quarter of the ongoing year, exclusively on AT&T, and they also confirmed some of its specifications.

According to BGR, the announcement made by the two includes the following:

The Samsung Infuse 4G will be the thinnest Android device and feature the largest screen — at 4.5 inches — in AT&T’s smartphone lineup. The device delivers a brilliant display using Samsung’s next-generation Super AMOLED Plus technology which features 50% more sub-pixels for better contrast and outdoor readability.

The Infuse will be powered by a 1.2 GHz application processor and run the Android 2.2 platform. This device is slated for launch in the second quarter of 2011, only for AT&T customers.
