Although Samsung Hercules is T-Mobile's version of the highly-acclaimed Galaxy S II, the devices have different specs.

It looks like the Korean handset manufacturer decided to boost Galaxy S II's hardware for the U.S. market to be more competitive.

Rumors suggest that the Hercules will be delivered with a slightly larger 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display and a dual-core 1.2GHz processor manufactured by Qualcomm.

Powered by Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), Samsung Hercules packs 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

In addition, an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and HD video recording capabilities (1080p) will also be included on the back of the phone, and perhaps a secondary front facing camera for video calls, which has yet to be confirmed.

Other highlights of the Hercules include Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities, as well as category 24 HSDPA for T-Mobile's 42Mbps HSPA+ network.

The AT&T SGH-I927, the carrier-branded Samsung Galaxy S II is very different in comparison to the original model.

The first thing that we noticed is that the smartphone comes in a slider form factor and features a 4-row slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

However, the phone kept almost the same slender shape as the bar Galaxy S II, so the differences between the two versions won't be that noticeable when put against each other.

Obviously, it will be delivered with Google's Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread platform and will boast the same high-end 8-megapixel main camera on the back with autofocus and LED flash.

According to the latest hearsay, Samsung will unveil all Galaxy S II carrier-branded models during its New York event on August 29.

There's a high chance that T-Mobile's Samsung Hercules will be launched in the last week of September, but there are no further details about the release of AT&T's Galaxy S II variant.
