Samsung might as well have more smartwatches in the pipeline

Samsung has barely launched the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches worldwide and rumors about how the Korean tech giant is now hard at work on some new smartwatch models are making the rounds already.

And now the ever-reliable @evleaks claims Samsung is readying a new Gear model that will arrive by the end of 2014. The smartwatch will come in black and goes by model number SM-R382.

So which of the rumored upcoming smartwatch models could this be? Samsung has already confirmed that its first intelligent timepiece running Google’s own wearable OS, Android Wear, will come by the end of 2014. So could this be it?

On the other hand, the Gear Solo and Gear Now smartwatch models were trademarked by the USPTO last month, so they might be in the pipeline as well.

We don’t know much about the Gear Now, but the Gear Solo is supposed to be a smartwatch capable of placing phone calls on its own. Most smartwatches today act as a smartphone accessory, but users can’t make phone calls form the device per se.

The idea of a smartwatch that could end up replacing your smartphone has been taken up by a start-ups, like the one offering the Rufus Cuff I told you about some time ago.
