Samsung introduced its latest set of wearables at MWC 2014, in the form of the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo smartwatches and Gear Fi health centric-band.

A few months later, Sammy globally rolled out the new devices for customers across the world. Now sources coming out of Asia (via MK) claim the Korean tech giant has already exhausted the initial Gear Fit wristband supply.

However, recent studies seem to indicate customers are curious about wearables but pretty undecided, nevertheless. Is it possible that Samsung has managed to crack the market?

According to the Asian report, Samsung’s initial batch consisted of 200,000 to 250,000 units and all were sold out in just 10 days. Out of this number, 25,000 units were available on the Korean market, but as the report claims, they have been depleted by eager shoppers.

Samsung’s initial supply is considered to be in league with the market, which was estimated at $330 / €239 million as of 2013.

Also, the struggle for supremacy on the market is also intensifying, with many players offering fitness-centric wearables, including Nike’s Fuel Band and Jawbone’s Up.

Even so, the reality appears to be the Gear Fit has been sold out, which translates into the fact the market is growing at a fast pace.

However, we’re not told whether the numbers were provided by Samsung itself or not. The Korean tech giant has a shady record when it comes to providing accurate sales numbers.

Back when the original Galaxy Gear smartwatch was released, Samsung claimed it managed to sell an impressive 800,000 units, even if reports were coming in saying the wearable was actually a major flop, selling under 5,000 units.

Also, a while back it was revealed that the Korean tech giant willingly lied about the sale numbers of the original Galaxy Tab series, claiming 2 million units were shipped out in just six weeks’ time.

Years later, some internal documents dating back from February 2012 revealed the company’s tablet sales were actually extremely low. Far from shipping 2 million units in under two weeks, Sammy only managed to push about a million units in the US covering in 2011.

Therefore, we advise you take this information with a grain of salt. This is not to say, the Gear Fit isn't a worthy product in itself.

The wearable comes with a 1.84-inch curved AMOLED display, equipped with a resolution of 423 x 128 pixels and draws power from a 180 MHz ARM Cortex M4 CPU manufactured by STMicroelectronics. Customers can purchase the new wearable for $199 / €144.
