Samsung is luring developers to start making apps for its wearables

Samsung has been known for courting its developers and because the Korean tech giant has already launched three wearables, in the form of the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit, it’s time for the first Gear App Challenge to take place.

Since one of the major complaints of the original Galaxy Gear smartwatch users was the lack of apps, Samsung needs to convince developers to fervently develop new software for the smartwatches. And since the Korean tech giant is using the Tizen platform and not Android, it might have some wooing to do.

But rest assured, Samsung knows how to lure perspective candidates in and it is offering a prize of $1.25 / €0.90 million in cash and goodies for the best ideas and to the best developers (via Tizen Experts).

The Gear App Challenge starts on May 8 and registering for it is quite easy. More information about what’s what have not been made available yet, but will be shared with the public in the upcoming week.

Note that the challenge will be held in several developer events held in different countries across the world, including South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, USA, Brazil and Russia.
