Today, mobile phone carrier Three UK announced the release of a new Android-based smartphone on its network, the Samsung Galaxy Y.

The handset arrives as a stylish and compact smartphone, also lightweight and slim, which features a low price tag and which can provide users with features and capabilities available in high-end devices as well.

Samsung Galaxy Y packs a 3.0-inch touchscreen display, along with a fast 832MHz application processor, which should prove a great option when it comes to playing games or enjoying applications.

The smartphone is also said to deliver great performance capabilities when it comes to browsing the Internet.

It offers access to various Google services and to software downloadable via Google’s Play store, and packs a microSD memory card slot for expanding the available storage space (a 2GB card included in the package). The phone is also packed with a 2-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

“The Samsung Galaxy Y is a great smartphone for people who want quality and style at an affordable price,” Sylvia Chind, head of handsets at Three, commented on the launch.

“Three’s Pay As You Go plans come with all-you-can-eat data so customers are free to enjoy everything the Samsung Galaxy Y has to offer without ever having to worry about how much they are using.”

The smartphone was made available for purchase for £79.99 ($128 or 97 Euro) on a Pay As You Go basis at the wireless carrier. Users can opt for a variety of such plans on Three UK’s network, depending on what they want to do with their devices.

“All in One 15 costs £15 and gives 30-day access to all-you-can-eat data along with 300 any-network minutes and 3,000 texts. Or All in One 25 costs £25 and offers 500 minutes, 3,000 texts and all-you-can-eat data for a 30-day period,” the mobile phone carrier explains.
