South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is about to have a new smartphone available for purchase on the UK market, namely the Samsung Galaxy W, an Android-based device that should be released on shelves before the end of this month.

The Samsung Galaxy W was expected to arrive at online retailer Expansys since yesterday, but it is still on pre-order on the company's website. Amazon is another retailer who offers reservations for the mobile phone, with a September 28th release date attached to it.

The two retailers also offer info on the price tag the mobile phone will feature when released. Expansys lists it at £284.99 (approximately $440 / 324 Euros), while Amazon has it at £299.99 (around $463 / 342 Euros).

What should be noted here is that both retailers offer the new mobile phone unlocked and SIM free.

At the same time, users should know that wireless carriers in the country already announced plans to add the phone to their airwaves, and that Three UK is one of them.

The wireless carrier says that the phone will become available for free on a £22 per month tariff (about $34 / 25 Euros), with 100 minutes, 5000 texts and 500MB of mobile data included into the mix.

The smartphone comes with a fast 1.4GHz application processor packed inside, and with a large 3.7-inch Super LCD touchscreen display.

Moreover, it includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper with support for HD video recording, as well as a front-facing VGA webcam for placing and receiving video calls.

The specifications list of Samsung Galaxy W also includes WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, along with HSDPA, and a microSD memory card slot for expanding the available internal memory.

The mobile phone is powered by Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and sports the TouchWiz user interface on top of it. It can be seen at Amazon here, and at Expansys here.
