While Galaxy S is still selling like crazy, surpassing even the most optimistic expectations, Samsung is already planning to widen the Galaxy series with other new devices. Rumors say that the Korean is preparing two more smartphones that will be tagged as Galaxy K and Galaxy U. Both devices are to be launched in South Korea in September.

The reason behind Samsung's decision to increase the number of Galaxies in South Korea might be the fact that the Galaxy S is only sold by SK Telecom carrier, which limits the choices that the customers have. The Korean handsets manufacturer intends to solve this problem by bringing more Galaxy devices to other carriers in the country. It seems that the new Samsung Galaxy U will be available through LGU+ operator, while the Galaxy K will be sold via KT carrier. It's pretty obvious that both smartphones have been named after each carrier the sells it.

It is uncertain if the two smartphones will have the same features as the Galaxy S, but we know for sure that they're a little bit smaller than the “original”. Samsung Galaxy K features only a 3.7-inch touchscreen, but will come with Android 2.2 out-of-the-box. While the Galaxy K is still under development and will be shipping out in September, the Galaxy U is supposed to go on sale this month through LGU+ operator.

No price tags have been disclosed yet, nor certain launching dates, but we should expect smaller prices than Galaxy S, just for the sake of competition between the carriers. The fact the both new smartphones are smaller might also be a good reason for a cheaper price. Either way, South Koreans will be able to get their preferred Samsung Galaxy version in a few weeks from any of the three carriers.
