Samsung Galaxy Trend, also known as Galaxy Ace II, has just been released in Australia. Android fans will be pleased to know that the smartphone is available for purchase for only $220 (€145) outright.

According to AusDroid, customers who wish to grab the budget-friendly handset can do so via MobiCity, Dick Smith or Telechoice. Keep in mind though that pricing may vary, depending on retailer, from $220 (€145) to $250 (€165).

The bad news is that the smartphone ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box and there’s little chance that it will get another major upgrade officially.

Specs-wise, the Galaxy Trend offers just enough to be tagged as a decent Android alternative for those looking for an affordable smartphone.

The device is equipped with a 1GHz single-core processor, which is complemented by 768MB of RAM and 6GB of internal memory. Users will be able to further expand memory up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The Galaxy Trend sports a decent 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and 233ppi (pixel density).

On the positive side, the smartphone comes with HSDPA (7.2Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76Mbps) support, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP.

On the back, Samsung Galaxy Trend features a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, while in the front, there’s a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

It doesn’t come with dual-SIM support and only accepts mini-SIM cards. Other highlights of the Galaxy Trend include: microUSB, FM Radio and 3.5mm audio jack.

The smartphone is powered by a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 330 hours of standby time or up to 8 hours of talk time. No word on Galaxy Trend availability at various carriers in the country.
