South Korean handset maker Samsung has just released a new mid-range smartphone in the Galaxy series, the Galaxy Trend 3.

The handset has been silently introduced in China, but details on availability and price tag are still unknown for the moment. As the name suggests, this is the third Galaxy Trend smartphone that will soon go on sale on the market.

The other two were not that popular among Android enthusiasts, but now Samsung is trying to bring the Galaxy Trend series to a much larger market, China.

The Galaxy Trend 3 will be available in the Mainland through all four major carriers in the country, which means that Samsung will launch four different models, one for each network operator.

Two of these models, GT-G3509 and GT-G3508 will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system onboard, whereas GT-G3502 and GT-G3520U will be powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Obviously, they have different compatibility with Chinese networks, but other than that, all four Galaxy Trend 3 models come with similar specs, with one small exception that we will highlight later on.

Specs-wise, Samsung Galaxy Trend 3 is a mid-range smartphone. As such, it sports a 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

On the inside, the smartphone comes equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. Although there’s no word on the amount of RAM and storage, Samsung has confirmed that all four Galaxy Trend 3 model come packed with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The only other difference between the Chinese carrier-bound Galaxy Trend 3 variants is the fact that GT-G3520U sports a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, while the other three models come with 3-megapixel main camera.

Unfortunately, there’s no telling whether Samsung will launch the Galaxy Trend 3 in other countries in the coming weeks, but stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
