South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has made official its first Android-based tablet, the long rumored/expected Samsung Galaxy Tab. While no specific info on when it should be released on shelves emerged, details on what it should pack inside in terms of hardware were unveiled on a teaser site the handset vendor put in place for the slate.

For what it's worth, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is shaping up as a very appealing Tablet PC, and its maker seems determined to announce it officially in about one week from now, namely on September 2.

As stated above, the teaser site Samsung has just went live with is meant mainly to confirm some of the specs we already knew on the Samsung Android-based tablet PC, without adding new items to the list.

Among these specifications, we can count the fact that it is running under Google' Android 2.2 Froyo platform version, or that it would boast a 7-inch touchscreen display.

Moreover, it seems that the device should arrive on the market with video calling capabilities, as well as with HD movie playback and full web browsing and augmented reality features.

GPS navigation has been included into the mix too, most probably complemented by specific applications and services.

Also in the applications area, we can count the already popular Swype solution, as well as a recently rumored e-reader. Moreover, the tablet should include support for Adobe's Flash Player 10.1.

All in all, it seems that Samsung managed to create a highly appealing slate, which might prove a strong competitor against other popular devices on the market.

Those interested in seeing a little more on this device should head over to the said teaser site to learn additional details, where they can watch a video of Samsung Galaxy Tab, also available below.

Unfortunately, Samsung did not offer specific info on when the tablet PC should arrive on the market, nor on the price tag it might sport when made available. It still remains to be seen which countries would receive the slate.
