Samsung will be launching the new slate soon enough

We’ve been hearing rumors about Samsung’s next-gen Galaxy Tab AMOLED set of tablets which will supposedly make a debut in June.

Recently it was revealed that the premium set of tablets which will boast 9.7-inch and 8-inch form factors will arrive with 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution on AMOLE displays, a 64-bit Exynos processor (maybe the same Exynos 7420 inside the Galaxy S6), 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card) and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box.

While we wait for Samsung to make an official announcement about the two tablets, designer Saber Mahmodi is teasing us with a gorgeous looking Galaxy Tab S2 concept which has been inspired by the design of the Galaxy S6 edge.

Do you like what you see?

The model has been imaged in a golden version with a big Home button which dons a fingerprint scanner inside of it (most likely, we’re not told exactly). As you can see in the photographs for yourselves, the edges appear to be very rounded and there’s a pulse sensor located on the back.

The designer doesn’t share with us what he thinks the specifications for these tablets should be, so we’re just going to go ahead and remind you what the rumor mill has been saying about these slates in the past few weeks.

One important detail is that the slates are said to be thinner than the Apple iPad Air 2 which boasts 6.1 mm / 0.24 inches. As for the new premium devices coming out of Samsung, we’re told they will arrive with a profile of 5.5 mm / 0.21 inches.

Furthermore, the devices are also going to be very light, tipping the scales at 260 g / 0.57 lbs and 407 g / 0.89 lbs, respectively.

Samsung will also be offering an 8MP/2.1MP camera setup onboard plus an in-house modem with Cat.6 LTE (300Mbps).

In related news, Samsung’s older bunch of premium tablets has started receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. We mean the first-generation Galaxy Tab S models, both the 8.4-inch and the 10.5-inch versions. On top of that, Sammy has started offering the new build for the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 which saw the light of day at CES 2014.
