Today is a big day for Samsung tablet lovers and crisp display enthusiasts, as the Korean tech giant is scheduled to announce the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Tab S 10.5 tablet in a few hours.

The event will take place in Madison Square Garden in New York today at 19:00 EDT and you too are invited to join the conference by tuning in on the official Samsung Tomorrow website or Samsung’s YouTube channel, to watch the live streaming.

And as with most major product launches, the complete specifications of the devices are already upon us, leaked into the wild by the ever faithful @evleaks.

We already knew them for the most part, but it’s not to get the confirmation that this is indeed what we’re going to be seeing Samsung unveil tonight.

The smaller of the bunch is the 8.4-inch model, which arrives with a WQXGA display handling 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution.

The device runs on Samsung’s own in-house chip platform, an octa-core Exynos 5422 (A15 1.9GHz + A7 1.3GHz) processor for the Wi-Fi model and a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor for the LTE variants.

Both versions will be fitted with 3GB of RAM and either 16GB / 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD up to 128GB).

The tablet is 6.6 mm / 0.25 inches thick and weighs 298 g / 0.65 lbs and runs Android’s latest KitKat build out of the box.

Specifications include two cameras (8MP on the back with LED flash and 2.1MP front facing camera), 4G LTE/3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/n/g, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS and GLONASS. Keeping things moving on the slate is a 4900 mAh battery.

Now moving on to the larger version (10.5-inch), most of the specifications remain the same, but the device will obviously weigh a little more, namely 465 g / 0.46 lbs. Also, the battery has been bulked up a little, being of 7900 mAh capacity, something needed to maintain life on the tablet.

Given that Samsung launched the premium Galaxy TabPRO and NotePRO tablets just a few months ago (at CES 2014 in January), the company should be very careful how it will price the device if it wants customers willing to purchase these new products too. We’ll surely know more about the topic in a few hours.

According to leaks, Samsung will already offer the slates for pre-order starting with June 13 and the first items will start shipping out to early adopters towards the end of the month.
