South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is about to bring two new tablet PCs on shelves around the world, namely the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 devices, both of which are now available for pre-order in Germany. The company already announced that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 would be set to hit shelves on June 8th and, since that day approaches, it makes sense for the pre-order availability of the device, but no specific info on when would the smaller Galaxy Tab 8.9 be released emerged for the time being.

All that Samsung said was that the tablet PC would arrive on the market sometime in summer, but info on the exact availability or pricing were left shrouded in mystery.

On Amazon Germany's website, the 16GB Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablet PC is listed with a price tag of €606.50 ($852) attached to it, which is a little more than what many might have expected.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 does not feature a price tag as of yet, but it should receive one in the near future, that's for sure.

Undoubtedly, there might have been a slight mistake on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9's price tag at Amazon.de, since Samsung announced that the device would cost $469 in 16GB flavors, and that it would go to $569 in 32GB versions.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 was announced at CTIA Wireless 2011 as the slimmest tablet PC in the world, equaled only by the larger Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Running under Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system and packing appealing specifications, including a fast dual-core application processor, complemented by a powerful GPU, the device would certainly prove one of the most appealing tablet PCs on shelves.

However, if Samsung launches it with a high price tag, its success around the world would certainly fade out, the same as it happened with the original Galaxy Tab, launched last year with a 7-inch touchscreen display.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 (and the Galaxy Tab 10.1) can be seen on Amazon Germany's website here.
