Dubbed Galaxy Tab 730, it was a couple of months late

The product may have ended up being more late than could be considered fashionable but, finally, Samsung's Galaxy Tab 8.9 has reached Indian stores, or one of them at least.

Though the listing has shown up on at least two retailers from that region, only one of them is currently carrying out deliveries.

Lets Buy is that webstore (see the listing here) while Flipkart says it is 'coming soon' whatever that happens to mean.

Obviously, this isn't a certain other tablet that is more famous for where it doesn't sell (patent lawsuit woes abound) and which got broken by the Android update the other day.

The product is powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 SoC (system-on-chip), which operates at 1 GHz, and has 16 GB of flash storage space.

Not really the might of the Kal-El Tegra 3 that showed up recently but, then again, there is no tablet based on it available (ASUS Transformer Prime will be the first).

Also, Tegra 2 already has HD video playback (and the Galaxy Tab 730, as the 8.9 is here called, has 720p HD recording too) so it is definitely not outdated yet.

Some may still think they could do with a boost to the ARM processing frequency, though, and it so happens that this is not a hopeless aim.

We actually mentioned how the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 was overclocked to 1.4 GHz just yesterday (November 15, 2011) through a process that anyone can carry out, or at least attempt.

That said, the Tegra 2 is here accompanied by two cameras, a 3-megapixel one at the back and a 2-megapixel one at the front.

WiFi and 3G are present as well, for wireless connectivity (obviously), as are Bluetooth 3.0 and a 6,100mAh battery.

The price at Lets Buy is of Rs. 32,445 ($ 639.42 / 474.17 Euro) while Flipkart has it at Rs. 30,900 ($608.97 / 451.59 Euro).
