Unveiled earlier this month during IFA 2011, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 has just been introduced in the United States, along with the company's Galaxy Player 4.0 and 5.0 PMPs.

Two Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 models will be available in across the country, a 16GB version and a 32GB variant.

Customers will be able to purchase the 16GB Galaxy Tab 8.9 model for a suggested retail price of $469, while the 32GB version will be available for $569.

According to Samsung, the tablet is expected to hit shelves on October 2, while both Galaxy Player devices will go on sale starting October 16.

At only 8.6mm thickness, Galaxy Tab 8.9 is one of the slimmest tablets available in the U.S. market, along with the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Just like its bigger brother, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 comes with Android 3.1 Honeycomb and Samsung’s TouchWiz UX unique user interface.

These three additions to the Galaxy family of products are impressive examples of our commitment to offering consumers an unrivaled array of choices for entertainment and information on-the-go. People want their mobile device to fit their lifestyle and the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Players offer unparalled power and portability to meet the widest consumer needs,” said Dale Sohn, president of Samsung Mobile.

Packed with productivity and entertainment services, Galaxy Tab 8.9 is equipped with a dual core T250S processor clocked at 1GHz.

Obviously, the tablet is delivered with an 8.9-inch WXGA TFT capacitive multi-touch display with 16 million colors support and 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, which is protected by Gorilla Glass.

The small tablet weighs only 447g, though it includes a high capacity 6,100 mAh Li-Polymer battery, allowing for hours of entertainment without needing a recharge.

The Galaxy Tab 8.9 comes pre-loaded with a range of popular services, such as: Samsung Media Hub, Samsung Music Hub, Samsung Readers Hub, Social Hub, Google Mobile Services, AllShare service and Mobile Printing.

In addition, the tablet features both rear and front-facing cameras, as well as document editing capabilities via Polaris Office.
