We already reported a few days ago on the upcoming availability of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE tablet at Rogers. However, at that time, no details were available on its exact release date.

Today, without further notice, the Canadian carrier added the Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE slate to its portfolio. Although the tablet is already available for purchase through Bell and TELUS operators, Rogers Galaxy Tab 8.9 costs about the same.

This means that Rogers customers can get the Android-powered slate for as low as $399.99 CAD with a new three-year agreement. Those who are not willing to commit to a long term contract can grab the tablet for $649.99 CAD outright.

For the time being, LTE support is Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9's main selling point, but Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich could add to it as well. The South Korean company already confirmed it will deploy the long-awaited update in Q2/Q3 2012.

Aside LTE (42.2Mbps), the slate comes with support for GSM voice communication, as well as Wi-Fi, DLNA capability and Wi-Fi hotspot. Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE is powered by Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system and packs an enhanced dual core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz.

Rogers only offers the 16GB model, but Samsung also released an upgraded 32GB variant, which is priced a bit higher. The storage amount cannot be expanded as the tablet does not feature a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

On the back, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE sports a 3-megapixel photo snapper, which features autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 2-megapixel front facing camera for video calls.

As the name suggests, the slate comes with an 8.9 PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen display that supports 800 x 1280 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.
