As expected, Canadian carrier Bell added the Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE by Samsung to its portfolio of tablets. The carrier only offers two pricing options, which are not that convenient.

Customers who want to purchase the Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE and are willing to commit to a long term contract can get it for as low as $429.95 (320 EUR) with a new three-year agreement.

However, there’s also the option to buy the tablet contract free, but customer must shell out no less than $649.95 (485 EUR).

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE is one of the few tablets that feature support for GSM voice communication, which is one of the main reasons, aside the LTE support, that it’s retailed via carriers.

The tablet was showcased for the first time back in September at IFA 2011, but Samsung removed it after 2 days, along with all other tablets due to Apple’s patent infringement resolution, which wasn’t in its favor.

Anyway, it appears that the tablet is now available for purchase in Canada, though the price is a bit steep in comparison with other slates that offer similar features.

In this regard, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE features an unusual 8.9-inch PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen display that boasts 800 x 1280 pixels resolution and support for 16 million colors.

The tablet is powered by Android 3.2 Honeycomb platform with Samsung’s TouchWiz UX user interface on top.

Samsung has already confirmed plans to upgrade most of its Galaxy family high-end devices to Ice Cream Sandwich, so we can safely assume that the Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE will be among those receiving the update next year.

Hardware-wise, the tablet packs a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, 16GB of internal memory and 1GB of RAM. There’s also a 3-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, along with a 2-megapixel front facing photo snapper.
