Apple managed to have Samsung's Android tablets banned in Germany

Although it was somehow expected, it still comes as a surprise that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 tablet PC was pulled from the IFA 2011 show in Berlin a few days ago. The tablet PC was unveiled to the world on September 1st, along with the large Galaxy Note smartphone, and Samsung brought both of them on the floor at the said event in Berlin.

However, since a Dusseldorf court ruled against Samsung in a lawsuit Apple filed for the banning of Galaxy tablets and smartphones from Germany, Samsung had to remove the newly unveiled device from the show, it seems.

Apple's request to ban sales of certain Android-based devices from Samsung was accepted on Friday, the company confirmed. Soon after, Samsung covered all promotional materials with Galaxy Tab 7.7 and removed all demo units from its booth.

Moreover, the company replaced the promo materials in the Galaxy Tab 7.7 section with Galaxy Note materials, basically erasing any trace that the tablet was present at the show, as our fellow editors Sorin Nita and Cosmin Vasile informed via Twitter several hours ago.

We did get the chance to have a better look at the device, and came up with hands-on photos with the tablet PC, but it seems that we were among the lucky ones to do so.

Those who came on Saturday at the show to take a look at the tablet PC were disappointed to see it gone, as Samsung would not show the device to the public anymore.

Samsung plans on refuting Apple's claims and will take legal actions so as to make sure that its smartphones and tablet PCs will become available for purchase in Germany once again.

The Galaxy Tab 7.7 is the bigger brother of the original Galaxy Tab device, and comes to the market with a 7.7-inch touchscreen display, a 1.4GHz application processor, and Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system on board.

The new device should provide users with increased performance capabilities when compared to the previous version of the device, while maintaining the pocketable form factor of the predecessor.
