Samsung has quietly launched the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus tablet in Canada. Unfortunately, due to the recent release of the new iPad in the country, we doubt that customers will take the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus into consideration for the time being.

Nevertheless, Samsung's 7-incher is definitely a good alternative for those who cannot afford to purchase a top tied tablet. Currently, major retailer The Source is selling the 16GB Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus for only $349.99 CAD (270 EUR) outright.

Keep in mind that the retailer mentions that the slate will be shipped on March 19, which means that the tablet has yet to arrive in stock.

The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is still shipped with Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system on board, but Samsung already confirmed plans to roll out an Ice Cream Sandwich update for the tablet in the following months.

One of the few tablets to support GSM voice communication, SMS and MMS, the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus has been upgraded to let users make and receive calls privately using Receiver Mode.

On top of Android 3.2 Honeycomb, Samsung included its TouchWiz UI. In addition, the tablet comes pre-loaded Samsung Hubs combined with an entire suite of Google Mobile services.

The tablet is equipped with a powerful enough 1.2 GHz dual core Exynos 4210 processor, which is complemented by a Mali-400MP graphics processing unit. The tablet also comes with 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Obviously, the slate sports a small 7-inch PLS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 600 x 1024 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

There's also a 3-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, as well as a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.
