Samsung is offering educational institutions a specially designed tablet

Just yesterday Samsung announced its Galaxy Premiere event during which we’re going see the Galaxy Tab S line-up of AMOLED tablets unveiled.

But until June 12, Samsung is treating tablet lovers with another addition to its extensive and continuously growing slate portfolio.

When it comes to Samsung, it doesn't matter if you’re a budget or premium consumer, if you’re old or young. The tech giant has something to offer for everybody. And the latest product to arrive from the Sammy factory drives the point home quite well.

The Korean tech giant has just launched a tablet aimed at educational institutions and students alike, in the form of the Galaxy Tab 4 Education.

The device is said to be the first tablet specially designed to support scalable 1:1 computing initiatives in K-12 schools.

As most student-friendly devices out there, the tablet is of course rugged (the screen is coated with Corning Gorilla Glass), meaning it should easily withstand bumps and bruises caused by being in the hands of young users.

If you’re wondering about specifications, the slate arrives with a 10.1-inch display and can work in concert with Google Play for Education.

Furthermore, the educative machine can be managed via a web-based console and Sammy is already offering the device to schools that plan to deploy it starting with the next school year (2014 – 2015).

The 10.1-inch WXGA screen offers the pretty standard 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, but taking into account that this is an educative tablet, we guess it’s enough.

Other specifications include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity, two cameras (we’re not being told the exact specifics), 16GB of internal memory and microSD memory card slot.

The battery is said to be advanced enough to last users up to 10 hours of use with the slate, to ensure power doesn't run out in the middle of the lesson. Another positive point is that the educative tablet runs Android’s latest 4.4 KitKat version.

Samsung promises the Galaxy Tab 4 Education will be fully compatible with the future upgrade to Samsung School. This feature will apparently provide an interactive classroom management solution.

Last but not least, the slate is equipped with NFC technology, a handy feat for the school IT team which will be able to set up the tablet-enabled classroom by virtue of a few taps.

For those interested, the new Galaxy Tab 4 Education is currently available through Samsung itself and partners for the price of $369.99 / €270.
