Samsung recently pulled the veil off its smartphone GamePad, an odd sort of 2-in-1 device that should appeal to game lovers everywhere.

Basically, the GamePad has been designed to work in concert with smartphones and smaller framed tablets, and you’ll have to pair the two in order to get an NVIDA Shield-type of gaming device.

You can buy the concoction as a stand-alone device or you can wait and get it with a bundle. Just in time for Christmas, Samsung is teasing the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Game Edition package.

At the moment, you can’t purchase the magic box, but it looks like Sammy will roll it out into the wild soon enough.

Also, the folks over at the German site All About Samsung have managed to get their hands on the box before it being unleashed on the market, so they are able to tell us what the box contains. Apparently the kit is made up of the Galaxy Tab 8.0 Wi-Fi tablet, Sammy’s new GamePad and an HDMI adapter.

This means users will be able to connect their tablet to a TV in order to play Android games on larger screen, which is basically what most gamers want to do, isn’t it?

Weirdly enough, the Sammy GamePad has been designed for phones and phablets with screens between 4-inch and 6.3-inch, so you won’t be able to dock the 8-inch Galaxy Tab 8.0 into the device. Nevertheless, we’re pretty sure you’ll be able to find some other purpose for it.

On the other hand, the controller can connect to the tablet via Bluetooth or NFC, so the GamePad is capable of controlling games whether you have the tablet in your hands or not.

For those who forgot, the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 this is a tablet with a 8-inch screen with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution that packs under the bonnet a 1.5GHz dual-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.

The tablet currently sales for $250 / €183, but at the moment we don’t have any indication of how much the package will end up costing.
