Not so long ago, we told you that Samsung was rolling out the much craved for Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to its Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 tablet.

But we have more good news in this department for you. Dear old Sammy is currently continuing the updating process and it includes other older devices too.

According to SamMobile, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is currently being rolled out for the quite popular Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 tablet, a product that saw the light of day in June 2013.

The new build has been currently spotted in France and it is available for the Wi-Fi models only, going to build number T310XXUBNE9. The new soft piece should arrive over-the-air.

We know you’re excited, but as with all OTA updates, the rollout happens to be a gradual one, so it will reach different territories at different times. Therefore, those of you who are not located in France (or Europe for that matter) will have to wait a little while to take advantage of all the KitKat goodness.

You can also be pro-active and try checking manually if the update has made it onto your device, by heading over to Settings > About > Software updates menu. If it’s not there yet, you might want to give it a few days.

Firmware Details: - Model: SM-T310 - Model name: GALAXY Tab3 8.0 Wi-Fi - Country: France - Version: Android 4.4.2 - Changelist: 1729796 - Build date: Sat, 31 May 2014 08:07:03 +0000 - Product Code: XEF - PDA: T310XXUBNE9 - CSC: T310OXABNE9 - MODEM: T310XXUBNE9

Albeit being last year’s news, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 has managed to rise quite high in customers’ preferences.

In an earlier piece, we brought to your attention an interesting fact. Looking through Amazon’s top product lists, one notices that Kindle Fire tablets are named best-seller or most wished for or most popular gift ideas, which is to be expected.

But when you check the top rated list, which is made up based solely on customers’ rankings, you are greeted by a surprise.

The list is massively dominated by Apple’s iPad, which takes up with 98 of the positions, with different models and variations. But a single non-iOS product manages to slip into the top. And it’s the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0.

The device arrives with an 8-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and draws power from an Exynos 4212 chipset with 1.5GHz CPUs fitted with 1.5GB of RAM and Mali-400 GPU.

Keep an eye for the notification alerting you, Android 4.4.2 KitKat is here for your 8-incher!
