Remember that last year Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab 3 Game Edition, a bundle which included a Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 tablet, a gaming controller and an HDMI adapter? Back in December when we first brought you the story, we had no estimated availability date for the Gaming Edition, but now the package has made an appearance in Europe, costing €349 / $471.
The pack should appeal to game lovers who would like to improve their mobile gaming experience. As TabletHype notes, the bundle consists of last year’s Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 tablet complete with a GamePad that connects wirelessly to the tablet.
Last but not least, the HDMI adapter allows gamers to go even further and stream content from the tablet to wider screens.
Samsung has also slipped out the Mobile Console app, which according to the Korean tech giant will also offer access to a gaming portal, teeming with optimized game pad controller apps.
Sammy also mentions that games from the Google Play Store (since the tablet runs Android) can also be played without hassle.
For those who don’t remember, the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 is part of the Galaxy Tab 3 Series and has an 8-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Power comes from Samsung’s own dual-core processor fitted with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.
Android 4.2 is the default operating system onboard so, as we just said, users will be able to tap into the Google Play extensive library.
Samsung pulled the veil off the stand-alone GamePad back in December and the device was reportedly designed to work in concert with smartphones and smaller framed tablets.
Oddly enough, the Sammy Gamepad was said to be compatible with screens between 4-inch and 6.3-inches, so theoretically you shouldn't be able to dock the 8-inch Galaxy Tab 8.0 into the device.
Still, Samsung might have found a work-around, which will be uncovered once the Galaxy Tab 3 Game Edition begins to ship to users.
