Samsung started the rollout of the Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Tab 2 tablets several weeks ago, but North American users were left out of the initial deployment.

The good news is, as MobileSyrup reports, that the upgrade is now available for download via Samsung Kies desktop software to all Galaxy Tab 2 owners in the United States and Canada.

The update is available for both Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and 10.1 models and can also be downloaded and installed OTA (over the air).

However, given the fact that Samsung pushes the update in stages, it is not available to all Galaxy Tab 2 owners at the same time, which is why it is recommended to try upgrading via Kies.

Keep in mind that the upgrade wipes out all your home screen’s previous settings, so you’ll have to configure it again after the upgrade.

ok...so what happened to the convenient status panel in the lower left of the screen...a single tap provided a very convenient status of power, network, screen brightness and messages.
Too many new panels here
