Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v, the Android-based tablet PC that South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung unveiled a few months ago with Google's Android operating system on board, is expected to land on the market in Australia on the airwaves of Vodafone as soon as May 4th, both through the carrier's stores and online.

According to some of the latest news around the Internet, the wireless carrier might be set to make the new device available for pre-order on April 20th, while having it on sale on May 4th, priced at $749.

“The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v is here. Featuring the much–anticipated Google Android Honeycomb software, it's the first tablet to bring the full mobile entertainment experience on the Android 3.0 platform to Australian shores. Watch videos, play games and share things you love on the go,” the wireless carrier said.

The tablet PC comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen display that boasts a 1280 x 800 pixel (WXGA) resolution, measures 246.2mm (h) X 170.4mm (w) X 10.99mm (d) and weighs in at 599 grams.

Samsung packed the device with HSPA+ 21/5.76Mbps 850/900/1900/2100 EDGE/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 connectivity, as well as with WiFi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 capabilities.

As Vodafone notes on its website, the tablet PC was packed with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with auto focus, LED flash and video recording capabilities, complemented by a 2.0 megapixel camera on the front.

It would also include a 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as built-in GPS receiver, with A–GPS support, and is powered by a 6860 mAh battery.

The new device sports enhanced multimedia capabilities, with support for various file formats, including: Audio – MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, RA; Video – MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV, RV, DivX, Xvid (1080p Full HD video @ 30fps).

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v should arrive at Vodafone with support for various Google Mobile services, as well as for applications available for download via the Android Market.
