14 DAY TRIAL // Although it’s not Ice Cream Sandwich, the new software update rolling out for the Galaxy Tab 10.1v tablet in Australia will surely appease those who own the slate.
According to Vodafone Australia, Android 3.2.1 Honeycomb update is now available for download for customers who previously purchased the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v.
The carrier claims that the update adds new features and improves the overall stability of the device, but it will also change user experience and the way it interacts with it.
Among the most important visual enhancements included in this update there are the expanded Recent Apps list and the resizable Home screen widgets.
Connectivity for USB accessories has been added as well, so users will be able to attach storage devices, keyboards and pointing devices, as well as joysticks and gamepads.
Other improvements mentioned in the official changelog include: support for FLAC audio playback, better Adobe Flash support in Browser and improved Wi-Fi connectivity when display is off.
In addition, the Galaxy Tab 10.1v will offer HTTP Proxy support over Wi-Fi. Several bug fixes and stability improvements have been provided as well, along with some security fixes.
Make sure the tablet’s battery is fully charged before attempting to download and install the update. We also recommend users to back up all their sensitive information before performing the upgrade to Android 3.2.1 Honeycomb operating system.
It is also worth mentioning that the update is approximately 140MB in size and is currently pushed OTA (over the air) via Google. Vodafone Australia claims the update is rolled out in stages, which means some users will have to wait a bit more until they receive it.
The carrier estimates that the full rollout of the update will take about one week, and recommends users to connect via Wi-Fi rather than choosing to download over 3G network.
