South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is readying the release of a new Android-based device on shelves, the already announced Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, which should hit the market as soon as June 8th.

The new tablet PC was unveiled during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, and got revamped only several weeks after.

The original model, a little bulkier, is already available for purchase as the Galaxy Tab 10.1v, while the new flavor would only arrive in about three weeks from now.

However, the first Galaxy Tab 10.1 units are already out, since Google I/O attendees received free tablets from Samsung and Google.

The rest of the world would have to purchase the device, paying $499 for the 16GB flavor of the tablet PC, or $599 for the 32GB variant.

JR.com has the device available for pre-order now for those interested in it, at the aforementioned price tag, but with no release date attached.

However, since Samsung announced that the tablet PC would be put on sale on June 8th and did not unveil a change on this until now, we should expect reserved units to be delivered at that time.

The specifications list of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 suffered no modification from what was originally announced either.

The tablet PC arrives on shelves with a large 10.1-inch touchscreen display, which should deliver a 1280 x 800 pixels resolution.

The device also sports an Nvidia Tegra 2 (1GHz, dual core) chip inside, complemented by 1GB of RAM and the aforementioned amount of internal storage space.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 also comes with support for Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, as well as with a built-in GPS receiver, and a 7,000mAh battery that can deliver up to 10 hours of usage time.

The tablet PC sports a 3-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and a 2MP camera on the front, for video calling. The device is powered by Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 can be seen listed on pre-order here, for the 16GB model, and here, for the 32GB variant (via netbooknews).
