Expected to head towards the Latin America

Samsung Galaxy is yet another mobile phone that seems to be heading towards the Americas running under the Google Android operating system. Already spotted at FCC, where it received approval to be used in this part of the world, it seems that the device bears the A3LGTI7500L model name. The good news is that the phone features US 3G connectivity, while the not-so-good one is that the L in the model number shows it is heading towards Latin America. Hopefully, this is not entirely true, and the handset will still come to T-Mobile's airwaves, as previously rumored.

As many of you might already know, an FCC filing does not offer details regarding a handset's availability or pricing, which means that Samsung Galaxy might come to the US too in the end. At the same time, we should expect for other pieces of information to surface in the near future, though via other channels, and more light into the matter will be shed. Until that happens, we should mention the fact that the Samsung Galaxy has just received a new firmware version. According to The Unwired, the Samsung Android phone should get updated via the PC, not over the air (OTA) as one might expect.

There are no exact details on what the new ROM brings to the device, yet the rumors point towards stability improvements, along with a series of user interface performance enhancements and longer battery life. Those who would like to perform the upgrade will need Samsung’s new PC-Studio software in order to be able to install the new firmware version on their mobile phone. According to the news, the new ROM won't wipe the device clean, which means that you won't lose the files, photos or applications on it, though performing a backup before the update might not be such a bad idea in the end.

The Samsung PC Studio can be downloaded from Softpedia as well, via this link.
