Samsung will soon be expanding its Galaxy J family

At some point a few months ago, Samsung was said to be considering cutting down on smartphone-making. The Korean tech giant itself said that in 2015 it would release 30% less smartphone models, but from what we’ve seen so far, the company couldn't keep true to its word.

For example, not so long ago, Samsung announced the advent of the J smartphone series, which so far only has one member, coming in the form of the Galaxy J1.

But it appears Sammy will be producing several brothers to the J1, including the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 (the company skipped the Galaxy J3 for whatever reason).

More Samsung Galaxy J smartphones are coming soon

Sam Mobile has already gotten hold of the rumored specs the upcoming smartphones are supposed to sport, and we’re going to share them with you.

For starters, the Galaxy J5 (SM-J500F) will come with a 5.0-inch HD TFT LCD display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) processor on the inside, fitted with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). The phone relies on a 2,600 mAh battery to live.

Even if Samsung and Qualcomm have broken bonds over the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, it doesn't mean the Korean tech giant can’t continue using the services of the US chip giant for its upcoming lower-end models, and this is exactly what appears to be happening.

The Galaxy J7 takes phablet proportions, as we should expect to see the phone arrive with a 5.5-inch HD TFT LCD display and either a 1.2GHz or 1.5GHz octa-core Marvel PXA1936 processor fitted with 1.5GB of RAM and 4/8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card).

Given the larger display, it’s only logical for Samsung to slip a bigger battery under the hood, and this is indeed the case, as the unit powering this model is of the 3,000 mAh variety.

The Galaxy J5 and J7 might be Samsung's first Android 5.1 phones

Both models will arrive with a 13MP / 5MP camera combo (although there’s a possibility they will launch with an 8MP selfie shooter) and LTE connectivity. Moreover, it seems that the operating system on board will be Android 5.1, making the Galaxy J5 and J7 Samsung's first handsets to come with this build out of the box.

If you’re wondering about dimensions, the Galaxy J5 is poised to break the scales at 149 g / 0.32 lbs, while measuring 8.5 mm / 0.33 inches in profile. The Galaxy J7 should be 7.9 mm / 0.31 inches thin and weigh 170 g / 0.37 lbs.
