Earlier this week, Samsung launched the NX mini camera, but the tech giant is also taking the opportunity to unleash earlier camera models unto other markets.

One example is the second-generation Samsung Galaxy Camera 2, a product that has been made available for sale in Canada at all major retailers. Those interested can purchase theirs in black (there’s no other option) for $500 / €362 a pop.

One of the retailers selling the camera, the Future Shop, is offering three Special Offers for those grabbing the camera from it. It is throwing in a free 64GB Memory Card (usually costing $99.99 / €72), shaving off 20% of any purchase directed towards a case, bag, or backpack to protect the newly acquired camera and a 10% discount on all tripods models available in shop.

Now, let’s take a quick tour and give you some details about what the camera actually packs. So, the Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 takes advantage of the same 16.3MP 21x Optical Zoom (Pinch-to-Zoom) sensor the original Galaxy Camera had, but builds upon it by adding an improved image processing system that allows better pictures to be taken.

The Galaxy Camera 2 can also be used to record Full HD videos and is Wi-F-enabled. Spec-wise, the snapper has a 4.8-inch HD Super Clear Touch LDC display with 308ppi on the back.

It also runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box in order to allow users to run their social media apps, so as soon as you snapped a good photo, you can go ahead and share it on Facebook and others.

The Galaxy SF2 comes packed with 28 SMART Features that grant access to a rich host of functions, like emailing pictures, DirectLink, MobileLink, and PhotoBeam.

Under the hood running the show, there’s a 1.6GHz quad-core processor combined with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (only 2.8GB is actually available to the user), but there’s microSD onboard, so users can expand up to 64GB.

On top of Wi-Fi, there’s added Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC connectivity. Everything on the camera is sustained by a 2000 mAh battery and the device is pretty light at 283 g / 0.62 lbs, so it can be easily carried in bags while you go on trips.

Characteristic of Galaxy products (like the Galaxy Note 3 and new TabPRO tablets), the camera sports the same faux-leather look Sammy seems to be so fond of these days.
