More bad news about Samsung’s upcoming flagship models

The rumors regarding Samsung’s upcoming flagship duo, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, are getting thicker and thicker.

That’s because in a month or so we expect the Korean tech giant to take center stage at MWC 2015 in Barcelona and unveil the two monster devices.

But the rumor mill has been conflicting related to the sort of specifications we are going to see onboard these models. For example, it was originally said that both models would come equipped with Snapdragon 810.

Samsung looking to cut cost with its next flagship

Two flagship devices have already been officially announced (the LG G Flex 2 and Xiaomi Mi Note Pro) so you’d think Samsung wasn't fearing the overheating rumors that are restlessly circling Qualcomm’s high-end platform.

But a recent report said that Sammy would go on and use its Exynos platform instead, for the majority of Galaxy S6 models anyway. A smaller amount will be reserved for the Snapdragon 810 when it eventually comes out.

Anyway, a new detail about the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge has come to light this week. According to the folks at WebTrek, Samsung is apparently looking to cut cost so it won’t be making the upcoming models water resistant.

At this point, we should point out that the company’s soon-to-be previous flagship, the Galaxy S5, arrives with IP67 certification, which translates into the phone being “dust tight” and surviving up to 30 minutes at 1 m / 3.2 ft underwater.

While this news will probably fail to agree with a lot of you, it shouldn't come as a surprise, as Samsung didn't have a great 2014, with S5 sales not amounting to what was expected and profits going down the drain.

Even so we should expect to see Samsung roll out a special Galaxy S6 edition, the Galaxy S6 Active which will bring about the IP certification your heart desires.
