Samsung’s new phones aren’t shipping out to consumers yet

The Samsung Galaxy S6 was announced with bells and whistles a few months ago in Barcelona during MWC 2015.

While initial feedback for the phone was quite positive, the Galaxy S6 is still far from being the perfect phone fans have been dreaming of. For starters, Samsung has chosen not to add waterproof capabilities to the Galaxy S6, like it did with its previous Galaxy S5 flagship.

More than that, with the Galaxy S6, the Korean tech giant doesn’t offer the possibility to expand internal memory nor does it follow its pattern of making a phone with a removable battery. But as it turns out, there’s a way around this problem.

Take a look inside Samsung's greatest creation to date

The Galaxy S6 isn’t currently shipping out to consumes, but some select few have already managed to get their hands on the smartphone. The folks of My Fix Guide, for example, have performed a comprehensive teardown of the device already.

In their guide, they explain how to remove the back cover, speaker, rear camera, frontal camera and motherboard of Samsung’s latest smartphone.

The dissection was completed successfully, and in the process we got to peek into the entrails of the flagship and noticed some interesting aspects.

For example, the Galaxy S6 takes advantage of a dual-glass design on the front and back, and in order to remove the back glass cover, you will need to heat up the edges of the phone first.

After the back cover is off, we get to see the battery and the NFC chip resting on top of it. The rear glass reveals a layer of black cooling stickers. The battery is of 2,550 mAh capacity and works at 3.85V.

The rear camera is revealed to have a fixed base, which will provide better stabilization overall. Unlike iFixit, MyFixGuide doesn’t offer us a repairability score.

Once you remove the back panel, you're in

While the hard part in the teardown process seems to be removing the back glass panel, the rest implies unscrewing screws.

Sadly, the Galaxy S6 Edge hasn’t been included in the teardown, although we are all too interested in seeing what lies under the hood of the curved handset.

Until someone takes the chance and disassembles that one too, we’ll just have to content ourselves with the Galaxy S6.
