We recently reported on Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone dubbed Project Zero, and now the first details on the handset’s specs have just leaked online.

The Galaxy S6 is supposed to mark a fresh start for the Galaxy S series of smartphones, which has become too predictable and almost completely lacking any kind of innovation.

Project Zero is meant to bring back those customers who switched from Samsung to another brand due to that lack of innovation and rather low build quality. If it succeeds, the South Korean company may finally start boosting its profit, which dropped in the last couple of quarters.

Although it’s a bit too early to make any assumption on what the Galaxy S6’s specs sheet could look like, the folks over at SamMobile are vouching for their source inside Samsung and claim they have some important details on the smartphone’s hardware configuration.

Keep in mind though that this is just some preliminary info, which could change at any time during the developing process, so the Galaxy S6 specs sheet may look slightly different.

Let’s start with one of the most important pieces of hardware inside a smartphone, the display. Samsung Galaxy S6 should come up with something new in terms of display, and the only option that’s now available on the market would be a Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) screen.

Another important aspect about the display would be the size. If it goes past the 5.5-inch threshold, it might enter the phablet territory and compete with the Galaxy Note family, which is highly unlikely.

That’s why we assume that Galaxy S6’s display should be smaller than 5.5 inches, but the exact size will probably be leaked closer to reveal.

Qualcomm and Exynos-based versions will be launched at the same time

Hardware-wise, the upcoming flagship smartphone should be powered by Samsung’s brand new 64-bit Exynos 7420 chipset, which should pack four Cortex-A53 cores and four Cortex-A57 cores.

But the Exynos-based Galaxy S6 will not be the only model available on the market, as Samsung will also launch another version of the smartphone, packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset.

There aren’t any details on the amount of memory, but it’s almost sure that the device will be powered by 3GB of RAM. Also, Samsung will launch three Galaxy S6 variants based on storage amount: 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB.

When it comes to camera, the anonymous source leaking these details claims that Samsung is still deciding between a 16 and 20-megapixel camera. However, we do know for sure that the Galaxy S6 will pack the same IMX240 imaging sensor that’s been included in the Galaxy Note 4.

Even though these specs do seem predictable, there might be some changes that Samsung may make during the development process. Stay tuned for more on the matter and let us know in the comments how you feel about the leaked Galaxy S6 specs sheet.
