Samsung Galaxy S6 is not a waterproof smartphone and it's not even water resistant. However, the South Korean company plans to launch a different version of its flagship smartphone that will offer these features on top of the high-end specs included in Galaxy S6.

Rumor has it that the Galaxy S6 Active will be launched sometime in May, but the smartphone won't be available for everyone.

According to SamMobile, AT&T will be the first carrier to offer the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active when the South Korean company will launch it.

AT&T will only have a temporary exclusivity over the Galaxy S6 Active, which will be available at other carriers worldwide. Still, Ma Bell might keep exclusivity in the United States for a longer time.

Leaked several days ago under the codename SM-G890A, Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will have a waterproof body and other rugged-specific features.

Moving on to actual specs, the Galaxy S6 Active will come with the same hardware configuration as the standard version of Galaxy S6.

Bigger sizes, but better battery too

This means that Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will be equipped with an octa-core Exynos 7420 chipset, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. Obviously, the smartphone will lack microSD card slot.

On the back, the smartphone will pack the same 16-megapixel camera, while in the front there will be a 5-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

The Galaxy S6 Active will keep the 5.1-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) AMOLED+ display, just like the standard model.

The only things that will be different over the standard Galaxy S6 is the enhanced 3500 mAh battery (as opposed to 2550 mAh battery) and the dimensions: 73.6 x 146.9 x 8.8 mm (compared to 70.5 x 143.4 x 6.8 mm).

We suspect there won't be any difference between the standard and rugged version of Samsung Galaxy S6, but there's a high chance more details on the matter will leak in the coming weeks.
