Samsung has been long rumored to plan the release of a Galaxy S5 mini smartphone, the same as it did with other handsets in the popular series of Galaxy S devices, and some more info on its availability has emerged online.

Although the upcoming phone hasn’t been officially confirmed as of now, it should not be too long before it is formally introduced, it seems.

According to a recent article on SamMobile, the South Korean mobile phone maker will make the new handset available for purchase sometime in mid-July, so do expect it to be announced very soon.

Furthermore, the news site points out that the aforementioned release timeframe falls in line with the launch of Galaxy S4 mini last year, which means that the info might very well pan out in the end.

Apparently, the new mobile phone is set to hit shelves with features and capabilities that would keep it even closer to its larger counterpart than Galaxy S4 mini was to last year’s flagship.

This means that, while most probably still aimed at the mid-range markets, the Galaxy S5 mini will fit the definition of a top mid-range handset.

Rumor has it that it will arrive on shelves with a 4.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720p resolution, which will indeed make it better when compared to the qHD screen present on last year’s Galaxy S4 mini.

The upcoming smartphone is also said to arrive on shelves with a 1.4GHz Samsung Exynos 3 Quad (Exynos 3470) processor and with 1.5GB of RAM inside.

What’s more, the yet unannounced mobile phone should land on shelves with an 8-megapixel camera on the back, most probably capable of offering full HD video recording. A 2.1MP front camera is also said to have been included in the package, enabling users to make video calls while on the go.

At the same time, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 mini is said to arrive on shelves with 4G LTE connectivity packed inside, as well as with Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and NFC capabilities. It will feature a built-in GPS receiver too.

On top of that, the handset will also come with an IR Blaster, along with fingerprint scanner and heart rate sensor, while also being IP67-certified for water and dust resistance.

Running under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat platform, Samsung Galaxy S5 mini is also said to sport the latest features included in Samsung’s TouchWiz UX, such as Ultra Power Saving Mode, Private Mode, and Kids Mode.
