Samsung Galaxy S5 has yet to make its debut on the market and rumors on its mini version have already started to emerge. Just like its predecessors, the Galaxy S5 will be offered in a smaller chassis with slightly lower specs and, obviously, a cheaper price.

The flagship smartphone has been confirmed to arrive on more than 150 countries on April 11, but Samsung fans living in South Korea can already purchase the Galaxy S5.

The same goes for those in the United States, as Amazon and a few other retailers managed to order some Galaxy S5 units from South Korean carriers and made them available to US customers at higher prices.

Nevertheless, most Android enthusiasts already placed their pre-orders at their favorite carriers or retailers, but some may prefer to get the Galaxy S5 before it actually goes on sale worldwide next week.

But what about those who can’t afford to pay the almost prohibitive outright price of the Galaxy S5 and don’t want to commit to a long-term contract? Well, Samsung has them all covered with a cheaper version of Galaxy S5.

Unfortunately, we can’t tell how much cheaper the Galaxy S5 mini will be in comparison with the standard model, but we do know most of its specs courtesy to SamMobile.

According to them, Samsung Galaxy S5 mini should be IP67 certified, just like the original model, which will provide it with dust and water protection.

Instead of a 5.1-inch display, the mini version of Galaxy S5 will sport a smaller 4.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that should support HD (720p) resolution.

These are more than decent features for a mini version, which makes price tag more importantly for those who can’t afford the standard Galaxy S5.

Furthermore, Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box. Although the folks over at SamMobile haven’t been tipped on the chipset inside the Galaxy S5 they suggest the smartphone might be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

The smartphone is said to pack an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel secondary camera for video calls.

Last but not least, the Galaxy S5 mini is rumored to feature 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, IR blaster and a 2100 mAh battery. Although no details on the phone’s availability has been leaked, previous rumor suggested the Galaxy S5 mini might arrive sometime in May.
