South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has been long rumored to plan the release of a smaller flavor of the Galaxy S5 handset, in the form of Galaxy S5 mini, and the device has received more approvals lately, it seems.

To be more precise, the mobile phone has been spotted at the Bluetooth SIG with model number SM-G800H attached to it, as well as at the FCC, where it features model SM-G800F, which suggests that it could become official very soon.

As SammyToday notes, the phone has emerged with a body measuring 61 x 127mm and appears to boast an EB-BG800BBE battery.

Moreover, it has been spotted on these certification websites with support for Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, NFC, and LTE Band 5 networks.

Unfortunately, Samsung hasn’t provided an official confirmation on this mobile phone as of now, though it has released mini versions of all of its latest flagship handsets in the Galaxy series, and it is expected to make a similar move with the Galaxy S5 too.

According to previous reports on the device, we might see it arriving on shelves with a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720p resolution, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

Moreover, rumor has it that Samsung would include a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos 3 Quad processor in the unannounced smartphone, along with a Mali-400 MP4 GPU, and 1.5GB of RAM.

On top of that, Samsung Galaxy S5 mini should feature 16GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot capable of accommodating cards of up to 128GB.

The mobile phone should arrive on the market with an 8-megapixel camera on the back, most probably capable of recording videos in full HD resolution, as well as with a 2.1MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

As mentioned above, the handset has also been confirmed with the full range of connectivity capabilities, including 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, IR Blaster, NFC, and a GPS receiver with A-GPS and GLONASS.

The same as the Galaxy S5 before it, the handset should be dust- and water-resistant. According to previous rumors, it will sport IP67 certification.

At the moment, the Galaxy S5 mini is said to run under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, though Samsung might actually release it with a newer flavor of the platform loaded on top right from the start, especially with Android 4.4.4 already available for download. Hopefully, more on the matter will be unveiled soon, so stay tuned to learn the news.
