Following the release of Galaxy S5, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has been rumored to plan the release of a smaller flavor of the device, called Galaxy S5 mini, and some more info on the device is now available.

The handset has reportedly made an appearance on the Indian import-export website Zauba, where it has been spotted with a 4.47-inch touchscreen display.

This is a Super AMOLED panel that should be able to provide users with a 720p resolution, something that was somehow expected from the smartphone.

There’s no official confirmation on the fact that this will indeed be the mini flavor of the latest Android-based flagship from Samsung, but there’s a good chance that this will indeed happen.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Samsung previously launched smaller versions of its flagship handsets, and that they came to the market not only in smaller sizes, but also with downgraded hardware specifications.

The upcoming Galaxy S5 mini will suffer a similar fate, it seems, considering the fact that it will sport a 4.47-inch 720p screen, while the larger counterpart was launched with a 5.1-inch full HD display.

The rest of the smartphone’s hardware specifications fall in line with this approach too, as the phone is said to arrive on shelves with a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor packed inside (compared to the 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 inside Galaxy S5).

Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini is said to feature 1.5GB of RAM, along with 16GB of internal memory. It might sport a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes as well.

On the back, the handset is said to pack an 8-megapixel camera, most probably with LED flash and full HD video recording capabilities, complemented by a 2MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

As TalkAndroid notes, the handset is also expected to be dust- and water-resistant, featuring IP67 certification, the same as the Samsung Galaxy S5 does.

Unfortunately, no confirmation on the Galaxy S5 mini has been provided as of now, and info on when it might become official hasn’t been unveiled either. The same applies to details on the smartphone’s availability and pricing.

However, considering the fact that Galaxy S5 mini has made it to the headlines a few times in the past weeks, it would not come too much as a surprise if Samsung announced it sooner rather than later, so stay tuned to learn more on the matter.
