Following the launch of Galaxy S5 with dust- and water-resistant capabilities, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics was expected to release other devices in the series with similar features, and confirmation on the matter appears to have emerged today.

According to Samsung’s New Zealand website, the smaller version of Galaxy S5, supposedly set to arrive on shelves under the name of Galaxy S5 mini, will be water-resistant too.

The feature was already rumored for this smartphone, and said entry on Samsung’s own website has finally confirmed it.

There, the mobile phone maker notes that Galaxy S5, Galaxy S5 mini, and Galaxy S4 Active will all be water-resistant and that they will all allow users to submerge them in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes.

Said section on Samsung’s website also explains that warranty for these devices will be voided in the event that users keep them submerged for more than 30 minutes. The mini Galaxy S5 iteration should hit the market with IP67 certification attached to it.

The Galaxy S5 mini hasn’t been officially announced as of now but, as SamMobile notes, info on the hardware specifications that it will land on shelves with has already leaked online.

Thus, we can expect the phone to come with mid-range hardware specs packed inside, including a 4.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 1280 x 720 pixels resolution.

Samsung Galaxy S5 mini is also said to arrive on the market with a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor packed inside, as well as with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

Moreover, the phone should feature an 8-megapixel camera on the back, most probably with full HD video recording capabilities, along with a 2MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

The phone is also said to be powered by a 2100mAh battery and to arrive on the market with the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system loaded on top right from the start.

At the same time, the smaller version of Galaxy S5 should include the usual connectivity capabilities, along with the entire range of common sensors.

The one thing that remains to be seen is when exactly Samsung will make the new mobile phone official, as no specific info on this has been provided as of now. However, chances are that we’ll see the Galaxy S5 mini officially launched sometime in summer, so stay tuned to learn additional details on the matter.
