Unveiled back in February at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, Samsung Galaxy S5 is the first flagship smartphone launched by the South Korean company to feature IP67 rating certification.

This means that the Galaxy S5 should be dust and water resistant. The smartphone should continue to work even if submerged in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

Those who have seen the smartphone and have held it in their hand doubt that such a piece of plastic can actually offer light rugged features.

The build quality of the Galaxy smartphone is not among the sturdiest out there, which is why many were skeptical that the new flagship handset launched by Samsung could actually resist under water.

Well, it appears that Russian blog site Mobile Review was willing to test Samsung Galaxy S5’s rugged features and kept the smartphone submerged under water for around 10 minutes.

The result is surprisingly pleasant for Samsung fans, as the Galaxy S5 performed admirably during the test and afterwards.

Assuming you keep the back cover perfectly latched and the rubber band that covers the microUSB port is in place, you should have no issues with the Samsung Galaxy S5 even when dropped under water. Thumbs up, Samsung!
